Ioun Stone question

Okay, stupid questions here that I can't remember the answers to. Can you have multiple Ioun stones active at the same time? (All the pictures in the books seem to show this as possible)

Also does one Ioun Stone (or multiple ones) take up the -Head- magic item slot?

Thanks for your time and patience with my silly questions that should have been answered years ago when the edition was new. ;)

You can only wear one ioun stone at a time. I don't belive it takes up the Head magic item slot.

I thought the reason Ioun stones are so fracking expensive was because they are slotless magic items? If you can only "wear" one at a time, and considering that they cost so much, why buy them?

Krel is incorrect on the first count. You can have multiple iouns stones active at the same time. He's right that they don't take up any slots, which is why you can use as many of them at a time as you want.

Really? I'm not arguing with you, but could I have some evidence on that statement, because it would be cool if you could have multiple ioun stones.

The strange thing is that the rules make it so that its cheaper to stick multiple abilities on one item instead of using ioun stones......

You can have multiple ioun stones of different types. I don't believe they stack with themselves.

Some do, some don't. It depends on the particular stone and the type of bonus it grants.
