Inflict Wounds with a Weapon

Greetings all,

I was wondering if anyone had come across any spell or feat that would enable an evil priest to cast Inflict xxxx wound using their weapon. It would seem the logical choice give that for good priests, cure wounds are using given to voluntary recipients and so doing a touch is not a problem. Doing a touch in melee is another story for inflict... Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

A Spellsword (T&B) might do this, if he were to multiclass as an arcane spellcaster. Other than that, I'm aware of no other means to do this.

Quintessential Wizard: Imbue Weapon (QW p.49)

Increases spell slot level by 1. You may cast spells with range “touch” (but not ranged touch) on a weapon you are holding.
Instead of making a touch attack, make an attack with the weapon (this is likely to be during the next round if the spell was a standard action to cast). If you hit, deal the spell’s effect and the weapon’s damage. If you miss, but would hit their touch AC, then the spell’s effect still occurs.

As hammy points out, a touch attack is actually much easier than a standard attack with a weapon. Even (or especially) at high levels, the loss of the enhancment bonus of your weapon to attack is more than compensated by the loss of your foe's armor and natural armor bonuses.

However, if for some odd reason you wish to do this, a spell-storing weapon can accomodate you. :)

The Imbue Weapon feat above specifies that if the weapon misses, but otherwise would hit the touch AC, the spell is discharged.

The reason I was asking was that I was assuming that a touch would cause a AoO but having a look at the casting in combat has clarified me. It is the casting that causes the AoO but the touch itself will not. It is considered an unarmed attack.

Still it might be still pretty cool from a roleplaying perspective. Kind of like a very nasty smite good for evil priests.
