In need of good ideas for spells to use with Permanent Emanation Feat!

Hey guys ( and gals!) I need a good spell for use with Permanent Emanation. Thinking of Anti-Life Shell, can't bring myself to use Anti-Magic Field (with the hole in the middle for my arch-mage via Mastery of Shaping) Thanks in advance for the suggestions. Good ones will garner EXP points!

Stinking Cloud isn't an emanation. Here is a list of common emanations for use with that feat.

I should also mention that, even with Mastery of Shaping a hole in the center for you to stand in, you would still have to lower the shield to cast through it.
 

That's quite a list, but it doesn't conain my favorite: Greater Consumptive Field. This spell has a chance (Will negates) to kill anything at 9hp or fewer and grants you 1d8 temporary hp, +2 untyped Strength bonus and +1 CL (up to half of your normal CL). 30ft rad emanation.
 

Do you have the source for that spell on hand?

I just looked it up (was cooking dinner), and I can see why I missed it. I've never really allowed Libris Mortis, except in very rare cases. I hadn't looked through the spell lists very thoroughly, it seems.

I would not suggest this spell, for two reasons.
Will save negates, and it cannot affect any creature more than once.

As a DM, I would seek an end to the cheese factor on this spell's "Permanent" effect. I would allow the bonuses to accrue to a maximum, and allow the bonuses a maximum duration. Considering the EPIC level required, the cap would reflect that level of casting, but it would prevent a character from entering a low level Kobold camp or thirty and accruing massive Str, CL, and HP bonuses for the rest of his adventure.

Including your fellow adventurers, presumably?

Then again, looks like that probably doesn't really matter. Anything epic that hits you is most likely dealing enough damange that your chance to fall in the range of 1-9hp may be rather low.

Globe of Invulnerability seems an obvious choice. Particularly since one of your archmage's major vulnerabilities is still the (perhaps metamagiced) scorching ray.

Invisibility Sphere, perhaps, though I'm not quite sure how the attack-negating would interact with the feat; as DM, I'd probably rule it a dispelling effect that negates the spell for 2d4 rounds. You'd probably do better with persistent improved invisibility.

Anything with offensive potential is potentially incredibly inconvenient, though perhaps not so much with the ability to dismiss as a free action.
 


I'm surprised that Replicate Casting (Spell Compendium) isn't listed for those times when it produces an effect that emanates from the caster.

Depending on how you read it, you could use Replicate Casting to effectively obtain all eligible effects of 8th level or lower as "Permanent Emanations".
