Ideas for a paladin's magic items

First, players in my PbP on CircvsMaximvs.com need to leave, especially you, WayneLigon.





So, I'm looking for some ideas on what some paladin-specific magic items might do.

Backstory: A fighter in in my campaign became the recipient of a sword and chainmail. These were accompanied with a vision - a meeting with Torm - who, in my campaign world, is a deity that time forget - a relic of a finer age. He accepted, and became a paladin.

So, he's like the only Paladin of Torm, essentially. He has a sword, and a set of chainmail, and Torm instructed him to find his shield.

So far, the chainmail and longsword have just been +1 each. He doesn't know it yet, but when he gets close to the shield, the sword will glow brighter depending on his proximity to the shield.

I was thinking that the sword/armor set would grow as he grows. So, he's 4th level now, and so I was going to make it +2/+2.

Also know that this is an E8 campaign, so 8th level is the highest level. So, I was going to make it +3/+3 at 8th level - a +3 sword is exceedingly rare in this world.

But, I wanted to create additional effects - something that is perhaps subtle - an additional effect that is gained between the sword, and the armor (which has has), and maybe three more effects - sword/shield, shield/armor, and sword/shield/armor.

Any suggestions?

Armor/Sword: Righteous Vigor - When the character strikes an evil creature with the sword while he wears the armor, he gains 1 temporary hit point which lasts for 1 minute. This stacks with previous temporary hit points gained from this ability.

Sword/Shield: Defensive Riposte - The character gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC against the creature that he last attacked with the sword, and a +1 bonus to attack rolls against the creature that last attacked him.

Shield/Armor: Holy Defense - The character gains a +1 sacred bonus to AC and saving throws.

Sword/Shield/Armor: Paragon of Virtue - The character's effective paladin level increases by 1 for all effects that vary with paladin level, e.g. damage from Smite Evil, hit points healed from Lay on Hands, effective cleric level for Turn Undead, caster level for paladin spells, etc.
