D&D 5E Idea For an Alt Satyr

So, I don't actually think Satyrs are OP, they just do a thing no other race does, which should be a good thing.

But, for those who do think they're OP, what if instead of advantage against all spells, they have the reverse of the elf feature, and were immune to charm, and had advantage against sleep effects?

Yuan-ti Pureblood also does it.

The thing is, there are... I think two spells that put the target to sleep? And of those two, one of them requires the target to be willing, and the other becomes pretty useless offensively past like 3rd level. Also, neither of them are resisted with a save, so advantage on saves against them wouldn’t even do anything. Immunity to sleep magic is barely more than a ribbon for elves on top of the more useful part of the feature, resistance to charm. Giving satyrs immunity to charm would be a strict upgrade compared to fae ancestry.

I do think replacing magic resistance (and maybe fae nature) with fae ancestry would be pretty fair. Though I’d also give satyrs something else. Maybe the goat’s Sure Footed feature.

I dunno, there’s a lot more charm than sleep effects. As a DM, I’d be reluctant Maybe a 1/long rest immunity to charm?

I'd rather not see a satyr in the game at all than give them the overused Fey Ancestry.

Good point about the sleep effects, though.

Then again, I don't think the satyr has so much other stuff that it can't afford to have a strictly better feature than Fey Ancestry.

What about adv vs Charm effects and effects that would restrain or otherwise reduce their movement?

I read the tag line of the thread as an all satyr and not alt satyr. I was thinking of an all satyr party, which would be kind of cool to play is a short, fun, arc.

Satyrs in general, like some other races are more powerful and can be discarded as a DM if you think. I do not outlaw them, but the players at my table are mostly PHB anyways.

Yeah I definitely don’t think they’re OP at all, but reducing the power of the adv ability does give a little more room for a surefooted ability or something involving music, or something.

I'm not sure that would help.
