How to speak Orcish.

What do you do when the orcs your PCs encounter say something in Orcish, and none of the party speaks orcish?
I found a great way to make stuff up on the fly... Since no one in my group are big sports fans (What?!? Say it ain't so!), I just shout odd sports figures names...
This happened last night... Orcs hear the PCs in a room in the dungeon. Orcs try to open the door(locked) and then yell into the room:
"Timunga Biakabatuka...? ... TIMUNGA BIAKABATUKA?!? MUTUMBO DIKEMBE!!!" <orcs sound alarm>

Sorry, but the right spelling is "Tshimanga Biakabutuka" :D

By the way, what when you don't remember one such names?

Good idea!

Orc 1: "Zarko cabarkapa ndudi ebi zeljko rebraca?"
Orc 2: "Luol deng desagana diop."
Orc 1: "Primoz brezec maciej lampe?"
Orc 2: "Wang zhizhi zoran planinic!"
Orc Chief: "Beno udrih mengke bateer predrag drobnjak!!"

(that's just straightforward list of NBA basketball players....... :) )

Yeah...

Yeah, I live in Charlotte, NC. So as a Panther fan, I unfortunately know how to spell #1 draft pick Tshimanga's first name. I was going with the phonetic for the benfit of those who never had to watch him (not) play on their team...

Those tennis players names sounding like Elvish to me... but all PCs speak Elvish, right?

Elven

I make it a bit harder for my group. I have a word list from here http://www.lugburz.com/black_speech.html when then encounter orcs.

As for elven...I make it harder. Each elven subrace (6 in my game) have it's own language....related to each other (Int check DC 15 to understand each other) but each is a seperate language. They all use the same alphabet. They are also chaotic in alignment but are united such as the High Elf Empire for example.

Dwarves...they are lawful but each dwarven city is it's own nation. But they have one united language...duergar and hill dwarf for example speak a common language.

I like the above website a lot and use it quite frequently. I use orc from other non-Tolkien souces for goblin and giant languages. I am a fan of writting notes that the players find in the script of other languages and passing it to them. I only give them a translation key if their character knows that language in particular. Try it...it's fun.
