I think Cavill acquitted himself well on the Tudors. This could be a very good choice.

Should I be ashamed to say I have no idea who either Cavill OR Zack Snyder are? :|

I have heard good things about the Tudors, though I have not seen it as of yet.

As reference for DumbPaladin, Zack Snyder has also directed the Dawn of the Dead remake, 300, The Watchmen, and the upcoming Sucker Punch.

Yeah, he really stands out on the Tudors. He has quite a good depth of expression, coupled with significant charisma. I think he could bring something really good to Superman. Superman in film (at least to me) has always seemed a bit shallow and overly boyscout-ish. Depending on the script, I think he could bring some depth to the character that has previously been lacking. I'm looking forward to it.

I would also wait but I cannot imagine them doing this unless they have some idea of how to make it technologically new also, which might require a big screen viewing. We will see.

Wow. No idea about Sucker Punch obviously, but based on the other three, I'd say hopes for this being a good film are rather dim.
