Has anyone ever made a Starship Troopers RPG?

Seems to me starship troopers would make a cool rpg...especially if you based it off the CGI roughnecks series..

Lots of different kinds of bugs, gear, terrain...aliens...but a simple concept of the military structure.

Especially if your characters were veterans (1st level soldiers) and you had like 5 or so 0-level grunts your characters could run..maybe 2 each as meat shields :)

So say you had 3 guys each one would run 2 zero level underlings that would basically just be 2 lines of stats...you would have a good size squad of 9.

MmmMmmmMm anyone done this game up?

Sorry for my thinking as I type thing I had going there... :)

PS they had telepaths too didn't they MMmmMm

Salutations,

I have never heard of a conversion, but it might be fun.

They did have psychics- not as fantastic as wotc's psi, but precog and telepathy.. at least.

I agree- a game based off the cgi series would rule.

I think Avalon Hill used to make a strategy game, but it was based on the novel, not the tv show.

That TV show rocks though...can't beleive it's on YTV here in Canada.

Starship troopers based on the novel=kool

starship troopers based on the movie !=kool

I agree about the movie sucking enough wind to inflate an East Coast state, but both the novel and that CGI series were both great. I'm really bumed that it (the series) 'died'. :(

Yeah... For a moment I thought he was talking about the book too.

Oh, and isn't there specific Forum for this sort of post?

I thought 'General RPG discussion' covered my topic nicely...

Since it isn't a released D20 game I didn't figure it fit in the D20 system game forum.

So no one has done even a home conversion on this?

MmmMmm I like it better when some one else has done all the time consuming stuff for me.

It would definitely be based on the CGI one...it would be sweet if one could get their hands on all the CGI objects from the show and just stat it all up.

I once thought about running a Starship Troopers style campaign in the Rifts universe. Rifts is a postapocalypse Earth setting that's heavy on magic, psionics, and technology, which means you can create almost any kind of science fiction or fantasy character. It's a fantastic setting by Palladium games.

One of the Rifts "worldbooks" is called "the Xiticix Invasion." These buglike aliens (the Xiticix) are invading Canada and parts of what used to be the U.S. (now the Coalition states), and they are an extinction-level crisis because they're reproducing faster than we can kill them off. The major powers all have different takes on how to deal with this threat, and cooperation is all but an impossibility (seeing as they're also trying to wipe each other out). The Rifts setting already comes with all the appropriate Starship Troopers toys, including super-weapons, a psionics system, and powered armor (yeah!).

I have little doubt that Xiticix Invasion was highly inspired by Starship Troopers.

Bughunters for the old Amazing Engine System did a pretty good job of capturing a Starship Trooper-esque feel.

Quite a few conversions of this little gem have been done for various systems over the years--a quick search on google might provide some inspiration...

One way would to use the Dragonstar Rules. The PCs automatically get assault suits equipped with an assault blaster and possible a rocket launcher and a bunch of high explosive, and the enemy can be formians armed with high-tech weaponry.
