Half-Fey Races Revisited

Quip

First Post
Well I went back and rethought my half-fey races, now they should be a little better balanced and interesting. I also added the half-dryad and half-satyr.

These are all what you get when the non-fey parent is a human, but they should be easily adaptable to the other races. The first is just a generic half-fey creature, the other subtypes have the same features unless their description states otherwise

Half-Fey (Generic)
• Humanoid
• +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Str, -2 Con; Half-Fey possess an unnatural grace both in body and spirit, but their mixed blood makes them frail.
• Fey Blood: For all effects related to race, a half-feys are considered fey.
• Low-Light Vision: All half-fey can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
• Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan
• Favored Class: Druid
• ECL +0

Half-Dryad
• +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Str, -2 Con
• Nature Dependant: If a half-dryad is more than 300 yards away from a forested area for over 24 hours, she suffers a -1 penalty to all saving throws. This penalty persists until she spends at least another 24 hours in a forest environment.
• +1 Natural Armor
• Spell-Like Abilities: Speak With Plants 1/day

Half-Grig
• +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -4 Str, -2 Con
• Catchy Fiddle: A half-grig playing a fiddle can cause non-sprites within 30 ft to dance if they fail a Will save of DC 10 + Cha modifier. The distraction of a nearby combat or other dangers prevents this ability from working.
• Skills: Half-Grigs have a +4 racial bonus on Jump checks. They also have a +2 racial bonus on Move Silently checks in a forest setting
• Favored Class: Bard

Half-Nixie
• Aquatic
• +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -4 Str, -2 Con
• Amphibious: Although half-nixies are aquatic, they can survive indefinitely on land.
• Spell-Like Abilities: 1/day Charm Person, Caster level 1st, save DC 11 + Cha modifier.
• Skills: A nixie has a +4 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line. Half-Nixies have a +2 racial bonus on Hide checks when in water. Half Nixies also recieve a +1 racial bonus on Search, Spot, and Listen checks.
• Wild Empathy: A half-nixie can improve the attitude of an animal as if she were a 1st level druid, if the half-nixie is also a druid then she recieves a +2 bonus to the check.
• Favored Class: Rogue.

Half-Nymph
• +2 Cha, -2 Str, -2 Con
• Dazzling Gaze: As a standard action, a half-nymph can daze a creature within 30 feet with a look. The target creature must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 10 + Cha modifier) or be dazed for 1 round. This is a supernatural ability, and can be used 3 times per day.
• Distracting Beauty: This ability affects all humanoids within 30 feet of a nymph. Those who are within sight of the half-nymph are distracted, suffering a -2 penalty to spot and listen checks. A half-nymph can suppress or resume this ability as a free action.
• Wild Empathy: A half-nymph can improve the attitude of an animal as if she were a 1st level druid, if the half-nymph is also a druid then she recieves a +2 bonus to the check.

Half-Pixie
• +2 Dex, -2 Str, -2 Con
• Eenduring Invisiblity: Half-Pixies who have invisibiliy or greater invisibility cast on them benifit from twice the normal duration.
• Spell-Like Abilities: 1/day-dancing lights, daze, prestidigitation, DC 10 + Cha modifier.
• Skills: Half-Pixies recieve a +1 racial bonus on Search, Spot, and Listen checks.
• Favored Class: Ranger.

Half-Satyr
• -2 Str
• Natural Weapons: Head butt (1d6).
• +2 Natural Armor.
• +2 racial bonus on Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Perform, and Spot checks.
• Favored Class: Bard.

Eagerly awaiting feedback, as always. And if anyone can point me to some other fey to work with I'd appreciate it. :)

Edit: Changed "Nature Dependent" into "Forest Dependent', and description to match.

Ooh, I like it. :) But I think the half-nymph needs more Charisma--maybe trade away the Wild Empathy and cut Dazzling Gaze down to 1/day in exchange for another +2?

For the half-dryad, you say "Nature Dependant" but I think what you mean is "Plant Dependant" or "Forest Dependant." Deserts and caves are natural and teem with life and even most cities have plenty of nature.

DC

It would be very difficult to give the half-nymph more charisma, even if I took away the special abilities or lowered its other stats, it wouldn't be well balanced for a ECL 0 race. Besides, a nymphs charisma isn't any higher than a nixie or dryad.

Yeah "nature" dependent isn't quite the right term, I'll change it to "forest".
