Half-Centaur?

We recently ran into a problem with the unholy union of a centaur and a man in my 3.5 campaign. Assuming they can crossbreed (Don't even ask, not only is it complicated and hilarious, its no way EN appropriate), what would this offspring look like?

We were considering it just looking like a satyr with horse legs instead...

What do you think?

The most accurate would be an abomination....but whatever.
If I was you I would say either centaur or human, randomly. Or make him a shapeshifter between human-centaur.

Using my extensive knowledge of pea plants as learned well over 20 years ago in school when I was but 12 years old, I'd guess a human has a genetic make-up consisting of [1/2human+1/2human] while a centaur is [1/2human+1/2horse]. So crossing them, we get a table as follows:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .HUMAN PARENT is...
. . . . . . . . . . . . 1/2human . . + . . 1/2human
CENTAUR
PARENT
is..
1/2human . . . . . HUMAN . . . . . . HUMAN
. + .
1/2horse. . . . . . CENTAUR . . . . . CENTAUR

Thus, half of offspring are human, and half of offspring are centaurs-- although the front legs may be the legs of a man, rather than a horse, and it may have a man's hind-cheeks, and/or a horse's ears (on its head, not its hind-cheeks).

However, don't ask about human+pea plant crosses. That's... complicated.

Throwing in my genetic 2 coppers.

I'd say randomize it, for sure.

Just to make it interesting but simple: d4
1-full human
2-horse head, human body
3-the "satyr-style" human top/horse-bottom you propose
4-full centaur

Of course, you could get into a bevy of other combos: d8
5-human but with horse (or donkey!) ears
6-hooves (not horse legs! Just hooved feet.)
7-quadruped but with human legs on the horse body
8-human with a horse tail
9-full on equine bi-pedal humanoid

Whatever you decide appearance-wise, giving it a mule's sterility might be a good idea. Nip this type of abomination breeding in the bud.

In the green ronin book "Bastards and Bloodline" there is a race called the Decataur. The are a union of elves and centaur but you can fluff em' how you like em'. They come in two types, bipedal and quadrupedal. Bipedal decataur come from an elven mother and a centaur father and quadrupedal decataur come from a centaur mother and elven father.

Bipeds have a +1 lvl adjustment. They get +4 dex, a base land speed of 30 feet, darkvision 60 feet and their favored class is ranger.

Quadrupeds have a +3 lvl adjustment. They get +2 to Str, Dex, and Con. Their base land speed is 50 feet, darkvision 60 feet and favored class is ranger. They are Large size but do not gain the benefit of reach and may only use medium weapons due to their elven torsos.
