D&D General Greyhawk: Beyond Oerik

If you have a Greyhawk campaign, do you have continents other than Oerik and Hepmonaland? (I’m not asking about western Oerik, which has a lot lol Greyhawk discussion already.)

Do you use New Empyrea/Aquaria? Or Fireland? Anything like that?

FYI, I just learned that Frank Mentzer was working on a Empyrea Kickstarter in 2017, but it was canceled. I don’t think there was ever much enthusiasm for New Empyrea, but probably even less now.

Rob Kuntz mentioned Lynn in Dungeon#124’s “Chambers of Antiquities” level of _Maure Castle: “the legendary land of Lynn” being, “somewhere across the eastern ocean and many thousands of miles away” (page 85).

My understanding is that Rob’s nod was an allusion not to Aquaria (which is tied canonically to Oerth in R4 Doc’s Island), but to the Empire of Lyhnn, created by François Marcela-Froideval (initial author of Oriental Adventures), see
Black Moon Chronicles - Great Library of Greyhawk for more details.

I’ve toyed with settlements on the continent to the north and east of Oerik (shown on the edges of the continental map from the Folio), above (and extending) the Land of Black Ice, but more of my recent design time has been spent in the southern reaches of the Azure Sea, far below the Olman Isles, west of the main body of Hepmonaland.

Thus far, however, in my many years of play in the setting, no PCs have visited a continent other than The Flanaess and its nearer neighbors.

Allan.

When I ran Greyhawk in the 80s I did not go beyond the Flanaess or figure out the continents farther out.

Later when I was running Freeport in my mashup campaign which had a past of Greyhawk with the Greyhawk pantheons being Old Gods and other stuff like Ptolus mixed in for the current world I had a rumored continent of Giants to the west of the main continent based off of The Diamond Throne where Arcana Unearthed stuff could come from and then off to the Far East some Dragonlance things which mostly showed up as Zeboim being a recognized Dark Power of the Sea in the nautical mercantile crossroads of Freeport.
