I am planning on writing and DM'ing a Delta Green campaign for my group in the coming weeks and I am tired of the same old villains, MJ-12 and the Mi-Go. I really like the idea of the Great Race of Yith, although sadly I am not that well versed in the actual Lovecraft writings, my understanding of the RPG books has me thinking they are not evil, but rather impartial. I know I can mak them whatever I want, but I do want to keep them as true to their normal behavior as possible so I was hoping someone who has more understanding of them than me can offer me some suggestions!
I want them to be the main villains of my campaign, and I need a motive, even if its an alien one, also from what I gather since they are time travelers that can foresee their own destruction this makes them very powerful, but being that they can be destroyed and that they must send Yith back in time to research implies they are not an impossible enemy. I had a few ideas but I would love to hear more, or a critique of mine, or even investigation ideas you have involving the Yith.
My first one is that they are invading, simply that instead of taking over the beetles bodies from the future, they are taking the humans place. I'm afraid this one may be more out of line with their thinking?
My second is that they know humanity will one way challenge them or someway hinder their progress, and thus seek to further along human extinction
And one side question, how does time travel work in the mythos? is their an established idea or is it up to interpretation? I ask because im wondering if its possible in the Yith perspective to change history
