Grappling and Swallow Whole

When you are inside the belly of the beast, you still have to make successful grapple checks to deal damage with your light piercing and/or slashing weapon right?

Swallow Whole

If a creature with this special attack begins its turn with an opponent held in its mouth (see Improved Grab), it can attempt a new grapple check (as though attempting to pin the opponent). If it succeeds, it swallows its prey, and the opponent takes bite damage. Unless otherwise noted, the opponent can be up to one size category smaller than the swallowing creature. Being swallowed has various consequences, depending on the creature doing the swallowing. A swallowed creature is considered to be grappled, while the creature that did the swallowing is not. A swallowed creature can try to cut its way free with any light slashing or piercing weapon (the amount of cutting damage required to get free is noted in the creature description), or it can just try to escape the grapple. The Armor Class of the interior of a creature that swallows whole is normally 10 + ½ its natural armor bonus, with no modifiers for size or Dexterity. If the swallowed creature escapes the grapple, success puts it back in the attacker’s mouth, where it may be bitten or swallowed again.

I think you can either use a grapple check or a normal attack to deal damage.

EDIT: Man, rogues can cut their way out of a swallow quickly!

"With no modifiers for size or Dexterity" is not the same as "denied Dex bonus to AC."

And it's probably dark in there. Unless you've got darkvision, the swallowing creature has total concealment - no sneak attack, and 50% miss chance! :D

If one were to apply common sense to the situation, the swallower ought to have Dex 0 relative to something it's swallowed. It's not like it can dodge the attack...

Instead we're playing D&D, and it's fun:)

And unless you count the stomach itself as a vital organ (and since cutting a hole in it doesn't seem to cause any additional damage to the creature it could be argued that it isn't in this case), the lining of the stomach would provide concealment to all the other organs.

Well, by that logic, so would its skin.

Of course not. You don't have to make a grapple check to attack someone with such a weapon normally. The attack IS at -4 (for being grappled), though. On the other hand, it's AC is lower, too, so it balances out.
