D&D 5E Gnome/Fiend?

I am working on a character. The concept is a Gnome who's warlock mother traded her to the fiend patron, for extra power (the mom was a really bad warlock, and this extra power made her mediocre, which is ten times stronger than before). The Gnome was corrupted into a Tiefling-ish form, and forced to battle in the gladiator pits for the fiend's entertainment. My question is, how would I go about this race? Is there a precedent Gnome/Fiend race? Or should I just have a Tiefling with a small size class?

For simplicity's sake, I would let you do one of the following, were I your DM.
You can either be a small-sized tiefling, stats, spells and all. Or you could be a gnome (stats and features and all) with a tiefling-like appearance.

IMO: the way your character looks matters very little to me, so long as you're not expecting to get special treatment because of it.

Your DM may be more open to using the standard gnome stats with an appearance of your choice, instead of adding the small size to the existing tiefling.

It is less of a PC character, and more of a story character I will be building. I like to have a bit of a basis in "fact" before working on a character in a story.

I am unclear.

Are you making an NPC in a game you are running? If so, don't worry about the stats and just make the character as you feel it should be made.
Or are you making a PC that just fits heavily in the lore of the campaign you are participating in? In that case: ask the DM, as always.

Or is your character not even for a game at all, and just for a story? If that's the case, just do what works.

Partially a pure story character, as I enjoy a bit of writing on the side, with a possibility of NPC status. Either way, I enjoy making character sheets up for important characters. I can do whatever works, I was just curious if there was a predecessor to work off of. Wouldn't want to build a "5E dwarf" character, then wind up making them nothing like the 5E dwarf, for example.

You could take the "magical" aspects of the gnome and make it more "fiendish" - instead of speak to animal, speak to fiend for example. Or replace minor illusion with fire bolt?
