D&D 5E Giant Spider Web + Burning Hands

So if you look at the Web spell, it's pretty clear on what happens if someone burns it down to free himself or friends. They would take 2d4 fire damage on the start of their turn.

What about the web that Giant Spiders create? Say all PCs except the wizard have been restrained by web and he is an evocation wizard, so he can use Burning Hands with sculpt spells to prevent his allies taking damage from his spell. Would the allies still take 2d4 from the burning web or be safe in this case?

DM's call, but I would have the PCs take no damage from the spell, but they would still take the damage from the webs burning, since the flames would spread. Of course, it's also up to the DM if the webs from Giant Spiders burn (I think they should, but I don't know if it says so in the monster description).

I checked, that the giant spiders webs only have 5hp and are vulnerable to fire would imply to me that they're at least a little flammable. Whether or not that means damage to characters being freed with fire is up to you. What sounds like the most fun to you? What do you think your players would enjoy? Personally I'd have the characters take a little damage because even if you have something like Sculpt Spell that only controls where the flames is initially applied, not where it spreads after the fact when setting something flammable on fire.

That's just my ruling though, it could be different than yours and the next persons. Like I said, what sounds like more fun to you?

I would say that fire spreads via webs. sculpt spells have nothing to help here.

you get instant free of web ability for cost of 5HPs. not bad for one action, plus all damage to the enemy.
