I thought you were going to talk about Settlers of Catan. I don't know about war, but the number of arguments my wife and I get in while playing. Honestly, I just move the bandit on my own spaces at this point.
;)

The site is forcing me to make an account so I have yet to read the article. I'll give it a read (and a serious post) today.

Seven lol. Great game. 6 of us play and it’s great! Do you a second choice for a game

Yup! As far as I know, the line of descent goes Kriegspiel-> Little Wars -> Napoleonic wargaming -> Chainmail (medieval wargame with fantasy elements) -> D&D.
It’s closer to Kriegsspiel, Free Kriegsspiel, Strategos, Braunstein, Blackmoor, D&D.

Gary Gygax (D&D) got the idea from Dave Arneson (Blackmoor), who got the idea from David Wesely (Braunstein), who got the idea from Totten (Strategos), who got the idea from Meckel and Verdy (free Kriegsspiel), who got the idea from Reisswitz (Kriegsspiel).

Some of this I knew some I did not. Good topic for reading in the waiting room!
