Game Stores in Silver Spring, MD?

When I lived and worked there almost 4 years ago, there was a very large gamestore in downtown ... Rockville, MD or Silver Spring proper.

IIRC, they had many gaming tables, and tourneys for minis, card games, and RPGs, supporting all types of games with their merchandise. They also sold swords and gamer-related books (mostly occultish stuff and wierd history).

Here is their website - Dream Wizards.

Yeah, Dream Wizards is the only one I am aware of still around in the area (used to be a couple other smaller ones that I frequented but those have since closed down). I believe there is one down in Gaithersburg that I've heard a friend mention a few times. But the name and exact location escape me at the moment.

Dream Wizards (sort of behind White Flint, off of the pike) used to be an excellent FLGS, but is not a little bit more into CCGs and mini games. They have an okay stock of table top products, although I have not been there in a while.

Surely there is a gaming shop which serves the UMD College Park crowd?

Actually, the UMD bookstore (I think? it's not on the campus, but just across the street) had a fairly respectable RPG section when I was up there.

The one in Gaithersburg is called Barbarian something, or something Barbarian, I think.

If you're in College Park, Baltimore has (or used to have) a couple of really large stores.

Overall, there aren't as many good/large/dedicated RPG brick and mortars as you'd think there'd be in the DC area. Luckily, a lot of the major chains are harboring RPG hobbiests, and have a decent basic selection.

We'll be excited to check out Dream Wizards... and we'll miss being in the same state as the Game Parlor (the one in Woodbridge, VA was closests to us). Ahhhh - how I love the Game Parlor - one of the best gaming stores I've ever stepped foot in (except for the fact that they wrap all their books *grumbles*).

:) Great suggestions - we appreciate it! :)

The Borders in the renovated downtown is the closest to a game shop that I'm aware of in Silver Spring proper, but that is mostly WotC and WW books.

Games Workshop used to have a store on the strip with the 'Vous in College Park.

but that was when i was in college.... so ...er.. maybe it is gone by now.

also in Laurel they had Hobby World.

up near Baltimore there was Hobby Works in Glen Burnie. but it moved to Severna Park. i bought all of their lead minis when they moved. :D i think i heard they went belly up tho in the early 90's.

I think you are referring to Barbarian Books. They no longer carry gaming stuff as of last I heard.

Deam Wizards is the largest game store I am aware of in the Maryland suburbs.
