Furries and Fantasy: The World of FAUNA

DnDChick

Demon Queen of Templates
Here are some very basic notes on races (species) that I worked up for a D20 campaign using anthropomorphs rather than the standard DnD races.

The world I ran this in was (more or less) Greyhawk, with the usual races replaced by anthrophmorphs. No other changes were made to the D20 rules or monsters. Changes made to the Greyhawk setting were done "off the cuff" as the game progressed.

Questions? Comments? Rude suggestions? lol

I've been wondering why someone hadn't done this before! I want to play a fencing, swashbuckling badger with an attitude. Maybe a scholarly platypus or mole. lol

Feel free to download and swipe the file then! Have fun. :) If I get more positive feedback, Ill be updating the file from time to time.

The group we ran had a male raccoon Ranger (Toren), a female squirrel Wizard (Amiya), a female hippopotamus Fighter (cant recall her name), a male rat Rogue (Snicker), and a male wolf fighter (Grantz). The main NPC was a male goat Wizard--the PCs were his hirelings. It was a lot of fun, but we only played twice. Too bad, too.

OT - your crit hit rules

Hi DnD Chick. First, let me say that your idea rocks. I hope you flesh it out, maybe use ND20P :)

Second, I'd like to use your crit rules as a baseline for another project of mine. Please email me at emiricol@hotmail.com at your convenience if you might be willing - I won't take it without asking :)

YEAH!!!! I've been wondering why no one has done Furryd20 yet.

I was thinking I was going to have to do it myself, thanks save me time.

Great! The hardest part usually is selling the idea on your players. They hear you want to run a game with furries and everyone wants to think its going to be cartoony or goofy (Gawrsh!). If you can keep your players serious about it, it can work out.

Also...just a note to everyone else in this thread...someone pointed out to me that I dont have any primates on the species list. Somehow I overlooked them! I am working on added Large Ape (Forest Gorilla, Mountain Gorilla, Orangutan), Small Ape (Babboon, Chimpanzee, Bonobo), and Monkey to the species list.

Anyone got any more ideas about some more Specific Species special abilities? I want to try to keep the main species list as generic as possible, and apply special abilities for specific species in a manner somewhat like a "mini-template."

Call me a dizzy blonde if ya wanna, but whats ND20P?

Another quick note about the species: for some of the larger species, such as bovine, equine, and pachyderm, or some of the ones with special attacks (like the skunk) what should their ECL be? Im thinking +1ECL or +2. They are so large and strong they should have some ECL. The elephant even has an extra appendage it can use.

And I know that most anthropomorph fiction is based on mammals, but what about birds, reptiles and amphibians, and fish? Should we include them?

Firearms and Fauna

Should we allow Fighters to start with the Firearms Weapon Proficiency feat, or just list it as an Exotic Weapon feat that one would have to choose?

Im leaning towards not automatically giving it to the Fighter class, but having it there if one wants to select it. That would help emphasize that firearms are still rare and new to the world.
