Just because Halloween’s past doesn’t mean you have to give up on your spooky fun. I mean there’s Krampus, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet-to-Come, the Hogfather, the Nightmare Before Christmas, and so many other ghostly and monstrous Christmas stories to ease your way out of the horror-fest of October. So let’s round up the last of the Halloween fun.
Starting off with a Pathfinder supplement from Sam Strider, Captain Collateral’s Chilling Collection is a Halloween-themed book with new player ancestries, class archetypes, magic items, monsters, and more.
Modiphius released Mysteries of the Manner for Achtung! Cthulhu where Black Sun forces ambush an antique collector and unleash Halloween horrors on the East Anglian countryside.
Chicanery Studios released the system-agnostic adventure The Thing in the Well for use with your favorite fantasy RPG as the party investigates the fate of a lost child after finding his mother fleeing the woods from an unseen threat.
Encoded Designs also has a system-neutral adventure with The Curse of the Pumpkin Patch that also includes a version of the Carved from Brindlewood system customized for the adventure.
Access RPG’s The Eldritch Properties of Dark Matter is an 1890s adventure for Mythos World and adaptable for any other Call of Cthulhu system that has an optional gimmick involving a UV light and secret ink. Also available in German.
More system-neutral fun from Lindsey Bonnette with Haunted Trappings, a generator to create themed haunted location aimed at settings in the 1920s but works for any game where haunted Victorian mansions are possible.
Dueling Dragon Adventures released The Chronicles of Aeres – The Last of Summer’s Light, an OSR adventure inspired by folk horror for low-level players that can be ramped up in difficulty for higher-level parties.
Grim Goat Games has a new monster collection Wicked Gourd & Gourd Head featuring pumpkins that come to life for use in MÖRK BORG.
Over on Dungeonmasters Guild, Xenia Pike has a horror-detective adventure Night Watch where the 3rd level party is asked to investigate whoever is desecrating graves and attacking visitors to the local cemetery.
If you want to add some detail to your Ravenloft campaign, Leguan 1001 has Heraldry of Barovia featuring the house sigils for the most important factions in Curse of Strahd.
And back to DriveThruRPG, we’ve got one final spooky season for those who have a different take on monsters (you know who you are, Resident Evil fans and Tumblr users). Vitoria Faria has OSE Monster Girls for B/X retroclones featuring four playable classes of cute monsters with the Succubus, Medusa, Minotaur, and Dryad.
From the Holostreets creator content program for Shadowrun, the supplement Shadow Cast: Street Punks offers new options, suggested builds, and roleplay opportunities for characters who run in the shadows to escape the greater darkness hiding the underground of the city sprawl.
The adventure Red Right Hand for Shadowrun Sixth World has Montreal singer Caroline Neon hiring the team to protect her after she found messages written in blood on cash collected as her recent shows.
Sometimes you need a back-up plan when the monster of the week doesn’t quite feel worth of the “of the week” part, so Skavenloft has DURF of the Week for Monster of the Week with random tables to come up with a threatening and interesting monster on the fly.
He’s off to see the Wizard and now he’s in trouble in the 5e adventure A Tourist in OZ based on the magical land of L. Frank Baum and compatible with OZ: A Fantasy Role-Playing Setting.
If you’re looking for a bit of comedy-horror, LazarusLair released Devil Inc. where the players are demonic employees of a diabolic company whose task is to spread misery throughout humanity to get them to sign contracts with the company for their souls.
The Gorilla of Destiny wants to add some realism to the magic in your 5e games with The Science Spellbook featuring over 100 spells based on general relativity, quantum mechanics, and other scientific inspiration.
Dice & Dish has a 6th level Dungeon Crawl Classics adventure with Edrenas Tower, a tower floating in the clouds above an island filled with singed monsters along with new spells, enchanted weapons, a new Patron, and more.
The “ancient alien artifact” is a staple of science fiction, and Old School Roleplaying wants to help add some to your games from Traveller to Cyberpunk and more with One Thousand Alien Artifacts from the Frontiers of Space.
If you haven’t quite found the OSR system for you, Chameleon Dream has Dragonhead Bangers Handbook that’s a ground-up full rules system inspired by (but not a clone of) B/X D&D with wear-and-tear hit points, easy grappling, damage-reducing armor, and more.
Deficient Games released The Count, The Castle, & The Curse, a gothic horror adventure for Shadowdark where the 1st-3rd level party is invited to the castle of a reclusive count with an offer too tempting to ignore.
If you want to get in on this gothic horror vibe but also want to play MÖRK BORG instead, don’t worry, Grim Goat Games has you covered with One Night at Castle Ghast where the titular castle appears only one day every century and whisks away anyone still inside at dawn, but many can’t resist the rare prizes that lay inside.
With most D&D settings using gemstones as a form of currency, having more options and rules for gemstones can come in handy to add depth to your games, which is exactly what Primer on Gemstones by Gabrilo Despint hopes to do with 5e rules on different gemstone types, modifying gemstones to increase (or decrease) their value, guides on gem-related services, and more.
And if the economy of your game is important to you, Thirakia has Living Costs Expanded with new expanded rules for living costs for players and NPCs to add a bit more direct motivation for adventuring.
Heading back to DMs Guild, Black Cat Nerd has d100 Rogue Traits which, as you might guess, has 100 traits and quirks for rogues to add some variety and depth to your NPCs and inspire some interesting new directions for PCs.
If you’ve thought the 5e underwater combat rules lacked something, Ryan Breadinc released Variant/Add-On Rules for Underwater Combat for 5e adding more interesting tactical choices than just “most weapons get disadvantage” with rules for movement, breath-holding in combat, new monster options, and more.
From Gonzalo Sánchez Sandoval, we have The Price of Power, a short adventure intended for level 3 characters where the group has to discover who is responsible for a series of fires in the city, which will lead them to uncover a plot.
I saw the title and wanted to make the reference but B and D Adventures beat me to the punch with the first line of the description, “The man in the back said ‘Everyone attack!’ and it turned into a Barroom Blitz.” This random encounter includes a map with room to customize it, tables to quickly describe the chaos, and more.
Our first Lightning Round this week includes GM/DM resources including miniatures, maps, monsters, and more. All products are either free or pay what you want with the suggested price in parentheses.
And our second Lightning Round features 5e player options. All products are either free or pay what you want with the suggested price in parentheses.
