I'm downloading now. Jester's Tears sounds good. I will try to grab them all and drop them in my Ipod Shuffle to evaluate before the next session. I'll try to give you some decent feedback too.

Thanks for posting

A definite recommendation for this music. I found your link a couple weekes ago in another thread, and used these in my game yesterday. The look on the players faces when "Where the Dead Lay" started up was worth every millisecond of download time!

Thanks! :) And good to hear that the music worked! I try to update the Divinity project in near future, but not sure yet with what kind of atmospheres exactly...

By the way, how much do you guys use music when you are the GMs? Do you rely on it much (almost constant background music), only in special situations (you have picked out the right songs for the right moments) or not at all (no background sounds or music)?

Our group tends to use music quite a lot. Most of the games have constant background music with a few special songs which are triggered at right places. I personally find this system really enjoyable. Right music can really emphasize the situations and images, bringing the experience to another level completely. That being said, there are games in which silence plays a really big part, so I think it's a quite dynamic thing - sometimes good, sometimes bad.

I remember when we played a one-shot horror game where the GM used Shinjuku Thief's album The Witch Hammer as the only soundtrack. The music is basically darkwave/industrial with medieval themes and atmospheres gone totally wrong. The album itself is quite nasty, but when merged with really creepy game, the situation worked really well. For example a friend of mine who does martial arts and is generally quite a strong-willed guy kept his eyes closed during the last 20 minutes or so and jumped when there came weird sudden sounds from the soundtrack. It was really memorable experience

He doesn't want to hear that album ever again.

music

I have never use music as a DM or played with a DM that use music however i have given it a good amount of thought and think that if done correctly it could be very useful and could be very fun to get the moment going...
