Scroll Organzier: This long strip of leather has an overlapping series of fifteen pockets sewn along one side, each large enough to hold a scroll of a single spell. When slipped into a pocket, only the top of the scroll shows, allowing you to scan the scroll's titles.

Cost 5GP, weight 1/2 lbs.

So, what is the point of this item? How is this any different then say, keeping your scrolls in a backpack or pocket? Is it possible the writers forgot to mention something else, such as "Retreiving a scroll from the Scroll Organizer is a free action, but only one scroll per round."? Seems like this is supposed to be a Potion Belt, but used for scrolls. Am I missing something here? Is there erratta on this? Is this an item you get "just for looks"?

It allows you to pull out the correct scroll without stopping to dig through your pack. Not very useful unless you carry more than one scroll, but most people who use scrolls do carry bunches of them, making this a handy item to organize them in.

Unless I am mistaken, picking a scroll out of a backpack is a Move-Equiv action, and then a standard to cast it.

How is a Scroll Organzier better than this?

We house ruled it takes up the same slot a potion belt would, and is a free action to draw the scroll from it. Works fine for us.

I do a similiar thing in my games, the only difference being that a character can wear both a Scroll Organzier and a Potion Belt.

We had a big debate about if you could wear/use both, and the bandoleer got thrown into the mix too. Basically we limited it to one of the three, but reasonably you could wear two, one as a belt, one across the chest.

We stuck to 1 because 2 potion belts was annoying me as DM.
