A gunblade is a sword-type weapon with a revolver handle built into the end. Gunpowder blanks are inserted into the revolver mechanism, and fired as soon as the sword strikes, blasting the wound apart with the resulting concussion. When striking and pulling the trigger, the gunblade deals 1d12 at a x4 critical. Given the akward design of the weapon, if using the sword blade only, the weapon deals only 1d6 with a x2 critical. The revolver holds 6 blanks, and reloading 1 blank is a move-equivalent action. Use of the gunblade requires fine reflexes, so only those with dex 13+ may become proficient in it's use.

It fits for some campaigns, and it just screams "gnomes!!"

Yes hes going to be controld by the mind flayer he cant resist. That thing has CR of 23 will he be abel to stop that I dont think so.

That sounds like it might be a good weapon in a D20 modern campaign.

Just a thought, but I would treat this as a weapon modification rather than a weapon unto itself.

Whenever the trigger is pulled the gunblade would do extra damage according to the ammunition used.

That way you can allow for much greater customization.

Now I realize that this is a weapon from a computer game, but the critical modifier should, IMHO, really be lower when using the blanks to cauterize the wound - not higher.
