Fighter Prestige classes

First Post
My char who is currently second level, Dwarf, Fighter, Feats Power Attack, Cleave and Weapon Focus (Greataxe, could change this one). stats are as follows:
S 17 D 14 C 17 I 13 W 11 C 8

I am looking around for a prestige class to head towards but have yet found none that are completely appealing.

Any ideas anyone, or even ideas as to where to make this char, all that he can be.

I am the main front line fighter, but want him to be a good all around fighter. I was thinking of taking close quarters fighting (s&f) for a feat down the road, as well as expertise and one of its related feats, just dont know which one.

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What's the character like?

Typical ale and axes dwarf?

There's a giant killer PrC on the WotC website that's kinda interesting and might fit the character. Just do a search for Giant Killer and the first link is it.

Warmaster in S&F might be interesting.

There's a Cavestalker in dragon #292.

There are a few in DotF that don't require spellcasting. Those could be interesting if he's a devout kinda character.

He is overall a 'good' char. And yes, typical Ale and Axe dwarf (is there any other kind :)

He tries to lead the party in the direction of good and keeping their word. Not quite LG but has some LG tendencies.

Why not stay a fighter? With all the feats you get, there is plenty of opportunity to customize - more so than any other class.

Then I would just think about multiclassing into cleric.

You get decent fighting skills, you can cast in armor, and you get 2 domain abilities that are potentially pretty cool.

Plus if he can make armor and weapons, he can enchant them. And after very many levels of fighter, you kinda run out of feats that you want anyway.

Plus it will let you get into some cool PrCs.

The Stonelord PrC from Dragon seems like it would be a good choice for a Dwarven fighter type. It adds lots of abilities related to drawing upon the power of the earth to strengthen and help oneself.

Dwarven Defender is one of the better PrCs. Its got 1d12 hit points, damage reduction, uncanny dodge, good Fort AND will saves, and the defensive stance. I'm playing one right now, but haven't had a chance to use the defensive stance just yet, so I'm not sure how great it is.

The downside to the class is you have to burn some feats on crap, but the end result is worth it. If you decide to go that route, you should decide before 3rd-level. Because Toughness and Endurance aren't on the list of fighter feats, you have to get them right away or you'll have to wait until after level 9 to get all the feats you need.

Anyone else playing a dwarven defender? How is the best way to use defensive stance?

Well, there is Weapon Master and Master Samurai, if you want to focus on dealing out massive damage. Both of those classes from S&F have some really nifty abilites, like being able to do Whirlwind attack as a standard action (rather than as a Full Attack action) or Supreme Cleave (able to take 5' steps in between cleave attacks).
