With the 5e rules/modules coming out in the next few months, this might be pointless, but considering how much I'm enjoying designing 5e House Rules and having been hounded by the wizard player in my group about Item Creation: Scribing Scrolls, Brewing Potions and the like I decided to dabble a little and create a Feat "Inscribed Spell Scroll"
Two things:
Let me know your criticisms/thoughts. Thanks.
PS1: I would follow along the same lines for Brew Potion and Enchanting Items.
PS2: The proposed Feat attached is isolated from the rules of Utilising a Spell Scroll and Scribing Spell Scrolls into Spellbooks. Those issues do not form part of the Feat description, despite them being issues related to it.
Two things:
- I changed the name from "Scribe" to "Inscribe" as the vision I have for our setting is that these sigils are etched upon paper through the process/ritual and not so much as someone having physically scribed them. But that is purely thematic and subjective.
- As I have said before on this forum, we changed the HD mechanic a little. We use Surges, which represents ones reserves and willpower. One gains a Surge on every uneven level beginning at level 1. They are used for a) recuperating hit points during rests; b) expending one to gain advantage in a physical check, any saving throw or attack; and c) for the purposes of casting rituals.
