Fantasy Menu

Moriarty

First Post
I'm interested in putting together some sample menus for my characters when they go into taverns. Does anyone know of a d20 book or a website that has put together a fantasy menu?

I'm not necessary looking for Red Dragon Steak or Wyvern Salad or anything just a list of normal meals from way back when and about how much they would cost.

Thanks in advance.

welcome Moriarty :D

just in case you ever are interested in fantasy menus, the second edition Volo's Guides (to the Daleland, to Corimyr, to the North, to the Sword Coast) usually had information on different dishes served throughout the Forgotten Realms. Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue included information on ales and wines, too

I'll second the recommendations for Aurora's and the various Volo's Guides -- they're all good sources for menus and food info.

Dragon has featured at least one article on food in the FR, but I can't remember which issue it's in -- sorry. :o It is a 3e issue, though, not one of the older ones.

Gary Gygax's World Builder has a list of common menu items for medieval taverns, although I wouldn't buy it just for that. ;)

Yeah, 277 had an article about cooking and eating dragons... 'Twas interesting, at least.

For a fantasy touch to an ordinary tavern's fare, you could use some of the more common DnD beasties. Dire rat, for example. It's common, large, and not difficult to catch by dire animal standards.
Idea shamelessly ripped from s/lash's Dungeon Damage comic. Sorry.

demiurge out.
