Fantasy food

So, what kinda food do you have in D&D? Tournaments, Fairs, & Taverns had some interesting alcoholic beverages (and I'm tired enough right now that I don't mind bragging about it), but we need to see more fantastic foodgroups. Lay 'em on me, buddies.

Scrambled cockatrice eggs on toast for breakfast. When your in the mood for seafood, nothing beats merfolk tails with a wedge of lemon. And Ochre Jelly (not the monster; the gelatine) for desert.

Do you mean "food you eat while playing D&D" or "food your characters eat?" Either way, I found some cool stuff from TheOnering.net which are "Middle-earth" recipes. I can post them if you want, but only after someone asks or actually wants to see them because it would take up a LOT of space on this thread

How about posting a link to the recipies?

In my planar campaign, I've got all sorts of weird food. It's always weird, though it gets weird in different ways depending on the plane you're visiting.

Sometimes, lower-planar taverns will serve roasted Dretches with arsenic sauce. Some other will serve live animals. A few serve minerals, and others have lava pools in their rooms. Most of them have at least something that a human can eat, but often you'd better not ask exactly what meat you're eating.

My players are going to discover that they've eaten scrambled lizardman eggs for breakfast. I might arrange for the bacon to be from a sentient speicies too.

Speaking of which, does anyone else remember the crates of "elf pudding" that were in the Sunless Citadel?

The first time we did that module, one of the PCs was an elf druid. We made sure to diplomatically steer her away from those crates.

If you're looking for some food to add local color to your games, you should check out Jack Vances' Dying Earth books.
(they're good books in any case)

The people of the Dying Earth are extremely decadant. They eat all kinds of wierd stuff.

Good luck.

This is where being an 'old' board member has deja vu.

Way back in the days of board 1.0 we discussed an artical in the news about a bottled drink in asia made from bear's bile! From that it was all down hill.

Dwarven hot spicy stirge wings!
Carrion crawler tentacle soup.
Wine coated shrieker.

Go for a 4 course meal

apitizer:
deviled kobold eggs-smaller and pack a helluva bite!

Soup & Salad:
tossed salad with myconid topings-a euphoric taste!
Eye of aboleth-gives you the fishy taste but so much more enjoyable

Main course
sauteed kuo-toan-the taste alone will drive you crazy!

Desert:
Chilled giant's brains-Just the fact you find one should be a treat in all to itself!
