Extending the threat range of thrown weapons?

Threatened Squares: You threaten all squares into which you can make a melee attack, even when it is not your action. Generally, that means everything in all squares adjacent to your space (including diagonally). An enemy that takes certain actions while in a threatened square provokes an attack of opportunity from you. If you’re unarmed, you don’t normally threaten any squares and thus can’t make attacks of opportunity.

Most thrown weapons (but not all) also serve as a melee weapon (like a dagger). So they can threaten when used as a melee weapon.

IIRC there was a feat somewhere that allowed an archer to threaten - so if I can only remember where it is. . . .

Enlarge person and other effects that increase your size tend to also increase your reach, and thus the distance at which you can threaten with a dagger (or any other weapon). But that's about it, AFAIK.

I think Pathfinder has a Lunge feat, but I don't know if it increases threatened area, or just increases your reach for attacks on your turn.

If an opponent inspires an attack of opportunity from a combatant wielding a dagger, can said combatant throw his dagger as an attack of opportunity? The two are adjacent to each other.

Not unless you have a special ability that says you can. "An attack of opportunity is a single melee attack, and you can only make one per round." (PHB page 137, emphasis added)

Arrowmind is a Ranger spell that allows you to threaten out to 10' with a bow. You'd have to look it up to see whether it worked with a thrown weapon, though.
The Peerless Archer has a class feature called Close Combat Shot, which basically allows you to threaten the area around you with ranged weapons. Dunno if it applies to thrown weapons, and also you'd have to look up the range.

Peerless Archer is in Silvermarches. Arrowmind I can't remember right now, and am AFB, sorry.

Other size/reach increasers:

Expansion (Psionic Power)
Inhuman Reach (Aberrant Feat)
Deformity (Vile Feat)
Righteous Might (Spell)
Stretch Weapon (Spell)

As I recall, there are also feats that let you make lunges that add 5' to your reach in both DCv1 and PHB2, and possibly a FR Regional one as well...but possibly only working with spears or other polearms.

Arrow Mind only allows you to threaten up to your normal reach, not 10'. It is from Complete Adventurer and Spell Compendium. And it only works with bows.
