D&D 5E Evasive Footwork???

CKO

First Post
In a game tonight we ran into a misunderstanding does evasive footwork bonus last the entire battle or just that one turn. I can see it both ways it says until you stop moving, so when your turn ends you stop moving and lose your bonus but, it also states in battle you are in constant motion so with that in mind you never stop moving in battle so you keep your bonus.

When does evasive footwork end?

How i read it evasive footwork can only be used when you move and its effect last until you stop doing so. So when your turn ends, you are not moving anymore nor can you use it off-turn if you're not moving.

But what if it takes you multiple turns to run somewhere, and so you end your turn running?

It's per turn. From a rules perspective, a PC stops moving at the end of their turn (i.e. the PC is no longer taking the move action since his turn is over), even though from the player's perspective, his PC doesn't stop moving.

That's why i DM can decide that it, in this case, works until the full movement is finished, so the world can make more sense.

(Or you can go the alternative way and say that rules are rules and there to be followed.)

I'm with the crowd that thinks the intent of the rule is to protect you for one turn. Otherwise, you could (ridiculously overblown example coming in 3...2..1..) spend your dice for Evasive Footwork, then walk 12 miles to the next town.
