Erky Timbers feats (Sunless Citadel spoilers)

Erky is a 2nd level gnome NPC ( Fighter 1, Cleric 1 ) from the Sunless Citadel. Given his HPs, he must've taken his first level as fighter and his second level as cleric.

Irky is listed with three feats: Power Attack, Scribe Scroll, and Weapon Focus (light mace). As far as I can tell, he should only have two feats, and he could not possibly have Scribe Scroll, as he hasn't gained a feat since his first caster level.

This wasn't in the errata linked from d20Reviews. One of my players died and wants to take over Irky. This came up when trying to write him up as a PC.

Am I missing something?

===edit===
To indicate that Erky is a gnome, spell his name right, and add "spoiler" to the subject.

If he is human he would have three feats, 1 for 1st level, one racial and one for being a fighter. He could have rolled max on the fighter HP's if they rolled for him and that would explain his high hitpoints. I don't know I have never seen the stats on him.

I'm currently playing in the Sunless Citadel and our party just encountered Irky.

Irky was presented to us as a gnome, judging from the question I suspect the DM didn't change his race.

Beats me where he got the extra feat.

It is an error. I ran the Sunless Citadel and dropped Erky down to 2 feats, which is what he should have, whatever order he took his feats in. I'm presuming the author made an error and gave Erky the bonus mage feat (Scribe Scroll), which he shouldn't otherwise have.

I like pre-printed adventures, and no I'm not a DM I am a player. Pre-printed always seem to have more depth for an inexperienced DM. Both of the DM's we have for our game are good though. We are currently in RttToEE.

Sorry, of course you needed to know that Irky is a gnome. And IIRC HP =18, CON +2.

Thanks, the Scribe Scroll mistakenly given to the Cleric as a free feat is a good guess.

Yes, probably using the apprentice multiclass option, he could have gotten the scribe scroll feat, thanks for pointing that out. I'd originally told the player that she could just choose any two of the listed feats, but after she chose Scribe Scroll, I realized it wouldn't work with a straight one class at first level. I feel better now.

Speaking of errors... Preprinted adventures are crutches for lazy DMs.

Yes, I wanted a crutch to help me with the rules for the new and unfamiliar 3e game. And I'm a lazy slacker. I ran a lot of 1st Ed, and never used a module.

It turns out that I don't enjoy running the module nearly as much as my own stuff. Having created something myself, it's easier to remember and I'm more passionate about it. My games seem to be more enjoyable that way, and my primary campaign will not involve premade adventures.

The Sunless Citadel has worked well for this campaign. We only play two hours every other Sunday afternoon. The players are my seven and ten year old daughters with some of their friends and occasionally a friend's parent--sometimes a very big group.

And I intend to keep running modules as a crutch for this neighborhood kids campaign. I put the old '83 Greyhawk map on the wall and stuck a pushpin into the Lortmils. Then started with "The Adventure Begins" box, before doing The Sunless Citadel. When that's finished, I plan a converted and beefed up Keep on the Borderlands to level them up for Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil.

Maybe. Does it list his cleric domains? I know the war domain provides weapon focus for free in the diety's favored weapon. Could that be it? Is there a domain that gives scribe scroll? I don't have my books and can't recall off-hand.

Anyway, I haven't read Sunless Citidel, so I don't know anything about it or this Irky fella. Hope this helps.

As for HP, a gnome fighter-1/cleric-1 could easily have 18 HP. Heck, that may even be low depending on his Con. He could have up to 28! (not counting toughness, of course, which he doesn't have).
