[Eberron] Grasp of the Emerald Claw ... then what?

Jeff Wilder

First Post
My players are about midway through Whisper of the Vampire's Blade, and will be starting Grasp of the Emerald Claw thereafter. That should take them to 8th level or so.

My question is ... then what? I don;t have time to homebrew more than about one-fourth of my adventure materials, so I'm looking for adventures that will fit pretty seamlessly into Eberron ... and, if possible, be tailorable to fit the storyline of the Eberron adventures.

Any suggestions?

Voyage of the Golden Dragon

it's a "standalone" Eberron adventure that supposedly includes sidebars to let you run it after grasp of the emerald claw. I didn't find such sidebars, but it is for the appropiate party level and it's Eberron.

Hmm - 10th level is sort of high for finishing GotEC; its also somewhat tricky to find adventures at that level.

If you were still around 7th-8th level, I'd suggest Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, with that tying back to Whispers of the Vampire's Blade

Cheers!

Before my group imploded on itself, I had planned to run The Banewarrens for them. That starts around 6th though, so you'd need to do quite a bit of work to scale it.

Dungeon magazine has a lot of great adventures. Have you considered jumping into one of the adventure paths at the appropriate level? It might be cool if the PC's have to pick up the pieces of a failed party. If not, then maybe check out the Istivin:City of Shadows adventures that run through Dungeon 117-119. While they are originally set in Greyhawk, they could easily be converted to Eberron.

All of the best Eberron adventures have come out of Dungeon. Unfortunately your party is several levels too high to use most of them straight out of the magazine. Still, there's lots of good stuff there, and it is well worth the effort of conversion. Look for:

  • Murder in Oakbridge (5th level, Dungeon 129)
  • Chimes at Midnight (5th level, Dungeon 133)
  • Steel Shadows (7th level, Dungeon 115)

The arc that went through the following adventures is fairly solid, if not quite to the level of the ones I mentioned above:

  • Crypt of Fallen Stars (7th level, Dungeon 123)
  • Temple of the Scorpion God (7th level, Dungeon 124)
  • Pit of the Fire Lord (8th level, Dungeon 125)

There are plenty of other Dungeon adventures that would fit into Eberron with little work. For example, I thought the recent Swords of Dragonslake (12th level, Dungeon 141) was a fun higher level mystery that would slip into Eberron with little effort.

What? No votes for letting them run wild and free, able to enjoy the benefits of their fame and fortune as one of the most powerful groups in Khorvaire?

Why not a series of one (game) night adventures, between three and six, each in a different part of continent, all tied in some way to the group specifically. A royal ball in Karrnath, a lightning rail ride through Thrane, leading into a rural adventure after getting off at one of the stations mid-journey, dining with the rich and famous in Sharn. That sort of stuff. After that, perhaps someone they met during one of those scenarios comes to them with a suitable adventure for people of their caliber.

Gah... guess I missed the part about homebrewing. You could always lift some individual scenes from different adventures and string them together in new and interesting ways for the same effect though.

Good Suggestion on Castle Ravenloft!

I ran GotEC at the appropriate lvl and it was brutal! Level 10 thou would be a bit high and would need to be scaled up a lot. Maybe Two Fiendish Dire Sharks, a couple of Bodaks...

....You crack open some issues of Dungeon Magazine and see what can be adapted easily enough for your Eberron campaign, given its level. Check earlier threads on this board, or earlier issues of Dragon Magazine, for blurbs about what adventures are in each issue of Dungeon (and what levels they're chiefly designed for). Should be easy enough to find something useable for your campaign. The EN World threads about each issue of Dragon tend to have some mention of what that issue says about the next issue of Dungeon (so that might help in your search, too).
