WotC Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will be de-listed from digital stores, multiplayer servers to be shut down

Information directly from the Steam page:

We will be shutting down (shut down) the Dark Alliance servers on 2/24/2025 and it will no longer be available to purchase starting that day. The base game and all DLC are still available to play in offline single player by anyone who currently owns it.

This game was published by Wizards of the Coast, so it's not being de-listed due to the license expiring.

I'd thought about getting this game ages ago when it was a choice between Solasta, (early release) BG3 and it. Never pulled the trigger.

Does look like it was a glorified (gorgeous) Gauntlet, though. I miss the days where you could just fire up a home server (or host yourself as a server) and play with friends.

You will still be able to play in single player mode. There won't be a multiplayer mode and if you want to buy it hurry. Surprisingly they didn't drop the price.

Shame they aren't simply dropping the price and continuing to sell it for the single player experience. I'd try that for $5.00 or so during the next Steam sale! Oh well.

Reviews were pretty bad for that one so I'm not surprised, though it's still an issue where game preservation is often relegated to extra-legal methods.

Yeah, some searching says that the number of players was small at launch, and then immediately cratered and never came back.

Diablo was also a glorified Gauntlet and it did well.

It's hard to make good games. Most video games released do suck and disapear into the void . . .

We're only noticing this one, because it's a part of our favorite franchise.
