Can an elven druid use a bow, as per their innate racial proficiencies, or are they limited to the Druid weapon list (i.e., sling)?

You are still limited since arrows usually have metal tips. If you had yourself a bow/arrows made that had no metal components in them (darkwood arrowheads), then you could use them as much as you want.

Unless, that is, he also wanted keep his druid powers, or he was a druid of Mielikki.

Yes. it says in the PHB that druids can use wooden items that have been altered by the ironwood spell to be like steel items. Going by this, im guessing if you made some wooden full plate, the druid could wear it, if he took the armor proficiency(heavy) feat.

The anti-metal requirement is only for armor.

The weapons list is based on a spiritual oath. It has nothing to do with whether the weapon is metal or not. (Hence the reason why a druid can use a scimitar.)

So, no, a druid cannot use a bow, regardless of the material used or any specific feats.

(Ironwood full plate is okay though.)

An elven druid would be profficient with a bow, but could not use one due to his oaths.

Not entirely correct: An elven druid is provicient with all bows, and can use them normally, without the -4 penalty to attack rolls. BUT, he loses all his magical powers and they won't come back until 24 hours have passed since he stopped using the stuff.

But he could use it, and could be quite good at it! Simply being unable to use a mundane, nonmagical object because you don't have the right class was AD&D 2e, and they got rid of it because it was just stupid.

Note that Mielikki allows her druids to use all equipment rangers are proficient with without breaking their oaths. Also, you can always use your god's favored weapon without breaking your spiritual oath. Solonor Thelandira, the elven god of hunting, archery and wilderness survival has longbow as his favored weapon, and he should make a good patron for your more battle happy druid.

Rule Zero in my current campaign:

Druids are not restricted to the weapons selection in the Players Handbook. The only restrictions as far as weapons are concerned are that they must be made from natural materials. Bone, horn, wood and stone. Bows are also allowed. Armour is restricted to light and medium and must also be made from natural materials. Though I am willing to entertain a greater selection than offered by the Players Handbook. Wooden items that have been enchanted by the ironwood spell are allowed.
The 6th level Ironwood spell now applies to all rigid organic materials. Example: bone, teeth, shell, hooves, horn, etc.
