One for the experts with all the books.

I know that 3.5 precludes the above multi on alignment grounds. BUT, it there any obscure rule floating around in ANY source book that allows a paladin or druid-type to waver in their starting alignment from LG and N-something respectively?

A special type of druid maybe? or a paladin of a lawful nuetral god or something?

Cheers

Unearthed Arcana has alternate paladin versions, I think they are all of a certain extreme, tho, with no N in there, but I'm not entirely sure.

One of the Dragon magazines about a year or so back had paladin-like core classes of LN and NG alignments. There are also several Holy Warrior type classes which can be of any alignment in third-party products such as the Book of the Righteous. Complete Divine also introduced the Shaman core class which uses the druid spell list and paladin-like PrCs like the Pious Templar. Not sure if there are any alignment restrictions, though.

Finally, if your DM is open to it (or if you are the DM), you can always house-rule away the alignment restrictions, or come up with a PrC that allows you to mix the two classes (see my Celestial Steward, link in sig).

Mmm.... if you're looking for any published page, no matter what, to allow you that multiclass combination, I think you'd have a much easier time just asking your DM to straight allow it. Why do you need a published book to give you the "permission"? Why don't you just talk with your group, about e.g. the idea of a druid being LG? I guess many people will NOT find the idea strange at all...

You'll have problems to get druid and paladin together. Druids may not have one of the corner alignments, and paladins must have one of the corner alignments (the UA versions are LG, CG, LE, CE).

So you have to take alternatives with other names:
Spirit Shaman, Complete Divine: Doesn't have alignment restrictions. Uses druid spells, but virtually none of the druid abilities.
Divine Champion, Forgotten Realms: 5-level-PrC with some Paladin abilities.
Blackguard, DMG: the evil equivalent of the Paladin, can be neutral evil.

Also, a while ago, Dragon had 4 (or 5?) classes for paladin-like characters with neutral alignments (like Anarch for CN)

Another way to do something similar is to start out with one class and pick up a PrC which resembles the other. A druid/hospitaller, for example.
