Dream products that will never see the light of day...

I have been reading the 3-5 year plan thread, and some other threads dealing with products from WotC -- and I have an idea for a product I think woudl sell like gangbusters...

Does anyone here recall the book that was a generic fantasy character background generation book? I think the name was "Heroes of Legend" -- it was a rather cool system overall, but left a bit to be desired in some of the organization arena...

Now...

What I would like is a system that allows me to generate a fully statted out, random character in the d20/D&D system complete with classes and levels and a background in much the same way.

I figure the book will need to be about 320 pages or so, include paths and die rolls that lead to all of the core races and classes. Each character should, upon completion be a fully fleshed out character that ranks it at between 1st and 3rd level or so.

This is not the sort of thing that can be done via a third party, as it would require (to be a fully fleshed out character) the rules for generating stats and applying XP. But WotC could do it. Heck, if I got the green-light, I could write it...

I think it would be cool.

Any other "Dream Projects" you would like to see, but figure will never see the light of day?

edit -posted response to the wrong thread.

As for dream products; this will never happen (I think Simbeida said as much), but I would love to see D20 RIFTS. RIFTS has great ideas (at least they used to before I stopped buying the books) but the mechanics are just not worth the effort it takes to tweak them.

I dont know if Fields of Blood will cover this good enough, but this is what I really need.

I need comprehensive rules for governing land. From a small village to a massive empire with everything covered from war to taxes.

How much income is generated
How to handle resources: Like opening mines, fishing, trade, ect..
All kinds of events
Still D&D related
and mass combat rules of differnet types minature and NON minature related.
Process of clearing land
How much time everything takes.

and more along those lines......

A truely interactive campaign world for the computer. I mean, click on the a part of the world, it magnifies. Then click on a city, it magnifies. Then select a building, and it would go inside, and if like a store or inn, there would be a picture of an innkeeper, and a randomly generated item list. You could also then add your own buildings, select a shop/innkeeper from a list, and add his opening line, or record your own. You could then add people to bars and such for plot hooks.

I would also like to see a cd for the pc of the Star Wars universe. with the same criteria as above.

The "Heroes of Legend" idea sounds more like a computer program to me -- kind of like Janis Buck's generator on steroids.

Sounds like a fun project and if you do it as a computer program you should be able to do it just fine as a d20 product without permission from WotC.

I'd love to see a setting based on Magic: the Gathering. Something that starts with the background info of the first basic sets, and then gets additional books corresponding to the various Magic expansions which detail all the new stuff and the storyline's progress.

GW 5, the lost 3rd Edition Gamma World module. It's the Holy Grail of my collection. And it will never see print. The notes for it aren't even in existence any longer.:(

More seriously, I'd like to see a d20 Science Fiction game from WOTC, and have them put out conversions of Star Frontiers and Bughunters for it.

If not, I hope they don't let the Polyhedron people do a Star Frontiers conversion. They ruined Spelljammer.

I would like to see a setting book that would help people game in Lodoss, but even if the creators wanted to drop the current system for Lodoss, I can't think of a company that would persue it, so something fan-done is what Lodoss fans have to go with.
