I'm finding that as I get... older? Possibly more cynical and jaded? That the fluff material for the D&D game, including Eberron and Forgotten Realms, is easier on the brain than the all purpose books like Complete Psion and Book of Nine Swords.

It gives away the ending for the Dragonrage going on in the fiction.

It provides stats and details for sevreal dragons.

Provides a lot of dragon based (for and against) spells, including some epic ones.

Includes an adventure.

Includes quick list of all the dragons mentioned and their current status (alive, dead, undead.)

I'm a FR fan and this book hit a lot of the right buttons.

Do the dragons include the ones detailed in the old Wyrms of the North column in Dragon?

From what I understand no it doesn't. Which is good cause they're all available for free on the WotC website.

What I dont understand is why the purple dragons in the dragon coompendium are evil, and the purple dragon knights in the forgotten realms are good guys.

Anyone got an answer?

The Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr are so named for the Forest Kingdom's alternate title, "The Land of the Purple Dragon." As revealed in Cormyr: A Novel ... SPOILERS ... THE purple dragon for which the land was named was a black dragon of such great age that his scales acquired a purplish tint. That dragon was driven out and slain by members of House Obareskyr over the course of a millennium.
