Dragonnel, Wyvern, & Dragon Turtle: Wyrmling-Great Wyrm

Wolf72

okay, all 3 critters as full fledged dragons.

Broken down by age categories and size ... I think they might be useful for people wanting to throw in some baby Dragon turtles, or wyverns

slight hang-up ...

carrying capacity. As far as I know, carrying capacity for a flying creature is light or less (any heavier and the creature cannot fly).

The dragonnel in ToH lists 519 lbs for light load. When I check the 3.5 SRD that is the carry load for a large quadruped ... a huge would be 1038 lbs.

(if you consider the dragonnel a biped creature (more balance/weight on rear legs) then the load would be 692 lbs (or 346 for a large critter).

.... soooo, I'm assuming it's a Huge creature ... then the load should be 1038 lbs, unless I'm missing a rule somewhere (fly critters carry at one size smaller?) I think that's an errata item

***(some changes to dragon type)***
33 skill points: 11 listen, 11 spot, 11 survival
3 feats: alertness, flyby attack, multiattack

I'm my own best replier ... what?

okay so that's suppossed to be 44 skill points, so I need one more skill to get at 11 ranks, any ideas?

I think this is it...

ahh... search? :) climb, jump, swim...

oh don't even go there!! ... I just realized I bumped the skill points from 33 to 44 because I bumped the int from 4 to 6!!! DUH!

as a dragon with a 4 int the dragonnel would have 12 skill points at 1 HD, then 21 more skill points ... so 33 is right. ... but since I muffed it already, I'll keep it that way.

but since I made it a dragon, I decided to go down in HD and size to get a hatchling.

Hatchling=small (1HD)
very young-Juv=medium(2-4HD)
adults=large(5-7HD)
Old=huge(8HD)

*age category is not same as dragons, it's just a benchmark from hatching to full grown*

skill points are assigned per age category, and are gained as a normal character would ... I used int as the bump stat (2 points from 4HD and 8HD), which gives a whole 1 extra skill point (34 total). Listen (8), Spot (8), Survival (7), Jump (11) (thanks boz!, also since I made it a dragon it will have the crush attack when it reaches huge size ... jump becomes more useful).

also fudged some of the change in size mods, otherwise I'd have a 1 HD hatchling dragon with a 1 str! ... there's a big jump in abilities from Large size to Huge size, I guess there's a pretty painful growth stage.

sooo ... what about carrying capacity, I know/assume:

it's a Huge quadruped (not biped) creature, so the light load is x6 or 1,038 lbs (not 519 listed in ToH).

alright ... here are the skill points for the Dragonnel. The points are from 1st HD (x4) up to 8 HD, the last HD is when the Int bumps up ... so total should be 34 skill points.

Code:
Dragonnel
Size-Age	Jump	Listen	Spot	Survival
Small-Hatchling	4 (2)	3 (5)	3 (5)	2
Med-Very Young	5 (4)	3 (5)	3 (5)	4
Med-Young	6 (5)	4 (6)	4 (6)	4
Med-Juvenile	7 (6)	5 (7)	5 (7)	4
Large-Y Adult	8 (10)	5 (7)	5 (7)	6
Large-Adult	9 (11)	6 (8)	6 (8)	6
Large-M Adult	10 (12)	7 (9)	7 (9)	6
Huge-Old	11 (17)	8 (10)	8 (10)	7

tomorrow sometime I'll put up the Wyvern split up into age categories.

I went with: [edit: not bothering getting that set up right ... ]
Code:
Small-Hatchling 1HD
Medium-very Young 2HD
Medium-young 3HD
Medium-Juvenile 4HD
Large-young adult 5HD
Large-Adult 6HD
Large-Mature adult 7HD
skill points end up being 40 (6 int) ... and I went with max skill ranks =Lvl/HD+3 ... so the basic ranks end up being 10 (+mods).

skills are: Hide, Move Silently, Listen, Spot.

I think it's kinda fun having some age categories for the non-true dragon critters ... I've always wondered what a baby griffon would look (stat) like.

Updates and Wyvern

wyvern skill points were correct to begin with ... oops.

Dragonnel – Huge Dragon

alignment: cantankerous neutral

dragonnel hatchling should be str 6 (-2) (not -3) ...
Attack bonus is +0 (full attack is 2 claws +0/+0, bite -5), jump is 4(2)
dmg is only -2

one more: I think I have the dmg for bite at standard str not 1.5x (it should be)
