Adding a cartoon as a character does not sound like they are trying to win me back. Maybe trying to bring in younger kids to watch. A Roger Rabbit cameo would be cool.

Sounds pretty cool as a weird one-off. I probably wouldn't like it as an ongoing character, but as one more piece of weirdness? Sure.

Similar as to how the Angel episode Smile Time was effin' hilarious, but I wouldn't have wanted David Boreanaz permanently replaced by a puppet.

Lol. I saw that and my first thought was "What are they thinking". I honestly can't imagine how they are going to make this work. The one good thing, is Alan Cumming is playing the character. Alan Cumming was brilliant as King James. I would love to see him in the show again. But this seems like a misuse of his talent (maybe he can pull it off and make it work, but I'd rather see him in the show as a live action villain).

I share some of your feelings here. I will give you my take on things as I have come back to the series after a break. I was a fan who left after the first season of Whitaker, largely when I started getting a sense how much the show would shift in the next season. But recently I've been watching up through the 60th Anniversary with my wife because she wanted to see Doctor Who (which she has never really wanted to do before so we started with the start of Nu Who and worked are way to the second episode of the 60th). I won't lie, I found stuff like the Timeless Children storyline to be pretty lore breaking in a way that just didn't work (it makes the Doctor's World smaller, it makes everything on Gallifrey revolve around the doctor in a way that also makes Gallifrey seem small, and it undermines the established history). I liked the fugitive Doctor but I think it would have made more sense to have her be a future incarnation. All that said, even though the season arc and how it handled the lore didn't really work for me, I think Whitaker's second season is better than her first in terms of the quality of the individual episodes. The Flux season (which i think may have been done the way it was because of the Covid Shutdowns) was confusing and a mess. Parts of it were great (the villains looked great and reminded me of Masque of the Red Death). But the story was really hard to follow, the filming was surreal, there was a dogman that felt out of place. The Flux season felt like Chibnall had been watching too much Farscape before he started writing it. The three special Jodie Whitaker did after that were pretty decent. Her finale was especially good. And the Master in her reasons was quite good (took me some time to warm up to him in the first season but he really started to work int he role). Jodie Whitaker also gets much better as the Doctor in the second season in my opinion.

I am on the 60th anniversary specials. The messaging is very heavy handed, but the first two episodes are quite entertaining. I liked the concept of the meep (reminded me of the creature from Earth 2). The second episode especially, where Donna and The Doctor are trapped on a space ship at the edge of the universe, was a nice quiet change of pace (and quite scary). Again the messaging is pretty heavy handed and sometimes feels out of place for the story but the episodes were well written. The explanation for how Donna saves herself felt kind of dumb to me and a hand wave. I think Davies is a much more competent show runner than Chibnall though as he can do surreal without getting confusing and he has a better handle on the show's pacing (at least in my opinion). After the 60th Anniversary we are going to check out the Ncuti Gatwa seasons
