There are no "elemental subtypes", just the "Elemental" type. Only an actual Fire Elemental is a "Fire Elemental"These rings say they grant advantage on attack rolls vs. elementals of that type. I wanted clarification on whether that meant any creature of the subtype "Elemental" or the actual specific creature Elemental of that type. Thanks.
It only applies to the appropriate sub-type of elemental, so a Ring of Fire Elemental Command does nothing for you against an earth elemental.
D&D Beyond lists it specifically as against "air elementals" ("fire elementals," etc).
I think the wording is rather clear that it is about the creature called Air Elemental.
I meant does Ring of Fire Elemental Command grant advantage on say an Efreeti or Salamander, or just specifically on "Fire Elementals".
salamander large elemental , efreeti large elemental, fire elemental large elemental
Ring of elemental command you gain advantage on elementals (small letters) from the linked plane. So yes any monster with elemental in description.
It says you can use this on fire elementals, not on any elemental creature native to the plane of fire.Ring of Fire Elemental Command. You can expend 2 of the ring’s charges to cast dominate monster on a fire elemental.
works against any elemental type from the right plane, IMO.While wearing this ring, you have advantage on attack rolls against elementals from the linked plane, and they have disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
