Dropout has announced a new season of Dimension 20, which will premiere on June 4th. The new season, titled Cloudward, Ho! will feature Brennan Lee Mulligan and the recurring Interpid Heroes cast (Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson) in a steampunk-inspired adventure. No other details about the Actual Play season was announced, although it's assumed that the series will continue using D&D 5E as has been the case with all longer seasons.

Episodes will air weekly on the Dropout streaming service on Wednesdays. The trailer can be seen below:

I've read this in some random reddit comment, so take it with a grain of salt, but appereantly BleeM's own longrunning home campaign is a 5e steampunk/ghibli (ala castle in the sky) game. If this is true he definitely has some experience making it work while giving it an own twist!
I believe his home campaign is running 3.5, but yes this is true! He's talked about it on an old episode of Adventuring Academy, I believe.

D&D is far from medieval now unfortunatley. It can do steam punk as well as anything else. Just look at the new art the only thing medieval about it is that they use swords.

It's never been particularly close to medieval anything in the first place. That's not necessarily a bad thing, historical accuracy has never really been a goal.

Meanwhile I don't see why you couldn't do Steampunk with D&D. You might want to reflavor a few things here and there but I don't see much need to do any massive house rules.

Man, the color scheme is giving strong Skycrawl vibes, but I can't imagine Brennan is going to be randomly generating much of anything, which doesn't seem to be his thing in Dimension 20 games, so he's probably not using that book.

Definitely looking forward to this.

The art before third edition tended to show people dressing in at least renaissance era. I'm not talking about historical accuracy. I'm talking about Aesthetic. In no way does the current art support the medieval aesthetic. Obviously historical accuracy is never the goal but it cannot be denied that even with third edition and to an extent early 5th maintained a medieval aesthetic. Except for the campaign settings that were meant to steer away from that: Dark Sun, Eberron, Planescape, Spelljammer.
