D&D General Did the Dread Emperor have a 4e stat block?

the Jester

Legend
I'm working on converting the Dread Emperor to 5e for my game. He originally appeared in the 3e Book of Vile Darkness, and I could swear that he had a 4e stat block somewhere- but I can't find it. Anyone remember where it was? Or am I crazy, and there was just lore for him?

Thanks in advance!

Was it somewhere under a different name? Don't tease me like that...!
I dunno. Just searched for "Dread Emperor" in the compendium and got no matches.
He was in a Shadowfell related book but I do not remember the exact title and nor do I remember if there was an accompanying stat block.
Probably either Gloomwrought: the Shadowfell and Beyond or Heroes of Shadow.

i think it was one of those little thin ones at the end
Probably Heroes of Shadow.

EDIT: Wait, no, I don’t think it would be, cause that was a fully player-facing book. 5e has gotten me too used to every release containing a mix of player-facing and DM-facing material, I almost forgot the standard used to be that everything was one or the other.

It is neither, he gets a mention in the in the 4e Manual of the Planes in the Shadowfell writeup but there is no stat block.
I did think it was the Gloomwrought book but there was no mention when I looked it up and I knew I had seen a reference and found it in the Manual of the Planes page 57.

For what it is worth Vox Machina fought the Dread Emperor before the campaign started to stream (Critical Role). They start the show at around level 7 or so.
So stat him what ever you want.
