I think the idea is that it is all one big encounter, in which case nothing regenerates. Or it's a new encounter and everyone is back to full resources. There would be nothing in between.
When you take into account that a round is 6s, it's not that unrealistic. Might actually go well with wounds/vitality. Vitality would regen back to full almost immediately after the fight, while wounds might take much longer to heal.
