As much as I love Dark Souls, I'm going to pass on the collector's edition of it. So that's one less person you'll be fighting against to get a copy, right?

I think I'm still skeptical because it's built on top of 5e. That just doesn't feel right to me. Dark Souls is so grimdark and tactical and challenging, and 5e just... isn't that. It doesn't help that I'm really kind of sick to death of 5e at this point.

Having read a review of the Japanese Dark Souls TRPG and a more detailed summary of that system, it just feels to me like what the Japanese TRPG offered was very in-line with what I'd like out of a DS RPG. If I read Japanese, I'd just get that version of it (it's on Amazon with ISBNs 978-4040723143, 978-4040725154, and 978-4040727219) but unfortunately I'm simply not good enough with Japanese.

I'm so worried I'm just going to end up disappointed with a 5e Dark Souls game that I think I have to wait and see what they make of it.
