Okay, I think we can all agree that demons and devils are cooler than tanar'ri and baatezu. And if you can't, uh, that's your problem. ;)

But what about daemons and yugoloths? Which do you prefer?

Personally, I prefer yugoloths, I just think it's a cooler sounding name and I dislike the similarity between demon and daemon.

And how is deamon supposed to be pronounced anyway?

Daemon should be pronounced like demon. Making the distinction quite difficult. Not that I really like yugoloths, but I just think daemon is too problematic.

Have to strongly disagree. "Yugoloth" always sounded silly to me. It also sounds like a brand of cheap Eastern European cars. ;)

And I've always pronounced it "DAY-mon." I know that's not technically correct, but it makes the distinction between daemon and demon easier.

I prefer Yugoloths. I like the suffix -oloth more than -aemon.

For example, I think Mezzoloth sounds a lot better than Mezzodaemon. Also, Ultroloth is the coolest of all! Ultrodaemon sounds kind of silly.

I don't know, -oloth just rolls off the tongue better.

Speaking of which, I can't wait to see the new and updated Yugoloths from MotP. I was sick when I saw the 3.0 Ultroloth, what a wuss!

Prefer Daemon, as long as I can pronounce it as "Daymon".

I do think it's confusing though.

I just don't like Yugoloth at all - it'd be nice if there were another term of established mythology that was familiar and that we could use.

Any contenders?

Cheers!

Most terminology changes between 1E and 2E I really hate, however, Yugoloth is one term I really like. Kinda Lovecraftian. Daemon is just another spelling for demon.

they're all just fiends to me. i don't make any distinctions between the types.

of course, i missed that whole 2e Planescape thing... :D

I call 'em all Daemons (capitalized). Yoguloth does sound very like Lovecraft. I am only very loosely aquainted with his mythology, though, so don't mind me. Where would I find info about these beasties? I've never seen yugoloths.
