This is a discussion thread where we can list (and argue about) our favorite spells, by school and level.

This one is dedicated to Enchantment spells: What's your fave, and why?

1. Charm Person - endless roleplaying possibilities, and may save you some pointless encounters.

2. Hideous Laughter - besides being hilarious, this simple spell can win you fights against very tough brute monsters.

3. Suggestion - let them do whatever you want, and they'll even think it's their idea! Hours/level, too.

4. Charm Monster - you now have a permanent pet. Oh, right, days/level only, but it's not as if you couldn't re-cast it whenever you feel like it.

5. Feeblemind - I just like the effect. Can shut down arcane casters HARD: with a -4 to their save, a strong Will save doesn't help much, since Wis will likely be dumped.

6. Freezing Glance - rather unusual Enchantment spell, and just great for shutting down multiple targets while still doing something else.

7. Power Word, Blind - yeah, a good power word spell! The 200 HP cap is actually OK, I think: you won't get dragons, but will get a lot of other monsters, as well as most NPCs at this level.

8. Irresistible Dance - I like no save spells. I really do. Also, just great fun visually.

9. Dominate Monster - much too high in level for my taste, but still a useful spell to pick up a powerful-but-dumb bodyguard.

0 Daze: I love spamming this at 1st level
1 Command, I guess...
2 Entice Gift, Ray of Stupidity, Mindless Rage are all excellent and humorous
3 Suggestion: So many creative uses for this. My favorite was when I was playing a Beguiler/Mindbender (ie, had telepathy). Dm allowed me to make the suggestions telepathically, multiple times I was enacting schemes using it on NPCs while the party was none the wiser.
4 Confusion: Or as I call it, "you and your friends kill each other while I casually walk away." Modify Memory for Bards is also cool.
5 Dominate Person: It's like having a cohort almost!
6 Geas: Mostly because I love the anime Code Geass, wish there was a higher level version that acted more like that ability
7 Can't think of any... I don't want to give it to Power Word "effect you could do as an area effect 5 spell levels ago with Glitterdust" by default...
8 Otto's Irresistable Dance: It's very powerful, AND humiliating!
9 Programmed Amnesia: Delete and implant memories, re-write someone's entire personality, set a trigger condition to turn them into a sleeper agent, and all sorts of other awesome options that make you wonder how this isn't an [evil] spell.
Runner-up: The Microcosm psionic Telepathy power. I just find it cool/horrifying that you can turn someone into a medical vegetable.
