Cubic Feet?

Does it have the (S)hapeable indicator on the spell?

I was going to say that I would take it as filling contiguous 5x5x5 blocks shaped as the caster desires. But a 5x5x5 block is 125 cubic feet, so a 10th level caster could only fill a bit under two of those blocks... and that doesn't seem quite right to me.....

well 100 ft^3 is about 4 and a half feet on a side

It's... 5.84... feet to a side

To find the side length of a volume just whip out a calculator and use the cube root function.

A five-foot cube is 5x5x5=125 cubic feet.

So 200 cubic feet is about 1.6 five-foot cubes.

If you're affecting, say, a wall that is two feet thick, the spell can affect an area that is ten feet by ten feet.

200 cubic feet is about 7 cubic meters.

What spell is that? There is a spell with an area of 20 shapable cubic feet per caster level and range close. The cubic feet (I'm thinking the spell said 20' cube) would be able to fill the entire area by level 15 or so. So the only point would be if you would want to not include some of the area.

Screen
Illusion (Glamer)
Level: Sor/Wiz 8, Trickery 7
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: 30-ft. cube/level (S)

Note it's a 30' cube (30'x30'x30') not 30 cubic feet (2'x5'x3'). At least by a literal reading, I'm not sure what the intention was.

It might have been 'Mages private Sanctum' where I first noticed it.

Mage’s Private Sanctum
Abjuration
Level: Sor/Wiz 5
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: 30-ft. cube/level (S)

Yeah you have to check the reading carefully. Dnd uses a 30 foot cube, which is 30 x 30 x 30. My assumption is that is what they are refering to.

Now when they say "shapeable" do they mean that you can move the 30 foot cubes around, or can you "deconstruct" each cube into 27 10 foot cubes (or 216 5 foot cubes) and rearrange them?

You can move the cubes, you can't "deconstruct" them.
The unit is the cube.

Edit: there was many discussion in our games about the spelling and the meaning of the volumes.
30ft cube, 30 cubic feet.....the first is a cube with 30' sides, the other is a total volume.
I thing it's the meaning.

It does not (that was one of the first things I checked too).

The spell is control temperature from Frostburn (p. 92). It lists the area as, "20 cu. ft./level emanation, centered on you." There's nothing in the Frostburn errata.

I'm thinking it's gotta be a typo and should read, "20 ft. radius/level emanation..."
