Critical and flanking?

Ok, two questions.
1) I´ve heard that if you score natural 20, it is Automatic CRITICAL hit.
I´ve always thought that on natural 20 it automatically hits but for a critical that only a threat so you have to roll second dice and if that is hit, then its critical.

2) if i flank somebody, he loses his dex mod to ac. But what about next round?
Does he still loses dex mod to ac? And if i´m flanking, is my flanking partner also flanking?

1) In the d20 system a natural 20 is a "threat", you have to "confirm" the critical with another attack roll with the exact same bonus and successfully hit to score a critical. That goes for weapons with larger threat ranges as well. Also, a natural 20 is considered an automatic hit.

2) Enemies do not lose their Dex to AC that I recall, the flankers simply gain a +2 to hit the enemy being flanked. So you, and the person opposite you who are flanking the enemy have +2 to hit.

Are you talking about 3.5? Since 3ed enemy loses his dex mod to ac.
It reads in every book. And for examble song and silence, theres
part that says different ways enemy to lose his dex mod to ac, including
Surprise sound, if hes blind, Flank attack etc...

1) A natural 20 is always a Threat, and so is any other naturally rolled number that is equal to or higher than the threat range of the weapon you are using. In any case a Threat needs to be confirmed with another roll, but the confirming roll only needs to be a hit.

2) No. Check the Table Attack Roll Modifiers on page 151 of the PHB. Remember btw, that there is a reason why Sneak Attack is allowed if the subject has lost his dex bonus to ac (if any) or for being flanked.

ok, and what is exactly the situations when opponent dont get his dex mod to ac?

Attacker is invisible, or defender is blinded, cowering, flat-footed, grappling (and attacker is not), or stunned.

Add to that list - defender is sleeping or paralysed or incapacipated or otherwise helpless or got 'feinted' . Some classes have special manouevres to deny an opponent teh Dex-Bonus to AC in specific situations, also.

No. If the defender is helpless, he does not lose his dex bonus to ac (if any). Instead the defenders dex is 0(zero) , and he can be sneak attacked.

And stictly speaking a feinted defender does not loose his dex bonus (if any). Well, he does, but only against the next melee attack from the person that fiented him.

It's as they say, flanking has never denied the person being flanked their dex mod. It does allow a rogue to sneak attack, but that's a result of the way sneak attack works, not flanking.
