I am trying to find the cost to pay a priest for resurrection in the DMG, and having trouble finding it. Anyone know?

No set price for spellcasting services exists, according to the PHB. It's circumstantial. A friendly NPC might do it at cost, depending on his motives. Who do you want to pay?

First you friendly NPC is probably going to need a 1000gp diamond. Or gold too replace it (plus probably some extra cost for hm to find a jeweller who can provide him with a diamond.

Second, yeah its pretty much up to DM. The rules suggest that npc spellcasters might demand a quest or some other service for higher level spells.

Well OK then let me put it another way: PC's just found a body of an NPC, who had been betrayed by the same guy who had betrayed the PCs. They feel bad for this other guy who died horribly while being betrayed. They want to resurrect him, potentially as an ally, and they wanted to spend a bunch of gold they just found near that NPC to get that done. And you as DM think it is a fun and smart idea and you wanted to encourage it (but at a cost). What would you do if the PC's went to the local temple with the body and wanted to pay to get the NPC resurrected?

Turn it into a adventure! The cost of the resurrection is as great or as little as I need it to be at the time(in gold). The important part would be the cost the pc's would pay towards the story!

So it might be as simple as a free resurrection from a grateful clergy for helping to promote the deity and or good will of the region or as steep as the soul can't be resurrected without journeying beyond Deaths Gates into the underworld and freeing him from(dun Dun DUN!) the Dungeons of Hades.

Hmmn...

Or I can just send them to a dinosaur-infested island to retrieve the rare tail feather of some bird needed for the spell...:)

Maybe you could use the magic item rarities table, with suggested gold values as a basis for the cost.
a 5th level (rare) spell scroll costs between 500-5000 gp and a 7th level (very rare) scroll costs between 5000-50000 gp. Pick a cost that seems most fitting for a one time spell service and fits in the confines of a probable cost.

There's some spellcasting-for-hire prices in the Adventurers League guide; they imply that resurrection would be in the 2500-5000gp range.

Spellcasting Services
Any settlement the size of a town or larger can provide some spellcasting services. characters need to be able to travel to the settlement to obtain these services. Alternatively, if the party finishes an adventure, they can be assumed to return to the settlement closest to the adventure location.
Spell services generally available include healing and recovery spells, as well as information-gathering spells. Other spell services might be available as specified in the adventure. The number of spells available to be cast as a service is limited to a maximum of three per day total, unless otherwise noted.
Spellcasting Services
Spell Cost
Cure wounds (1st level) 10 gp
Identify 20 gp
Lesser restoration 40 gp
Prayer of healing (2nd level) 40 gp
Remove curse 90 gp

Acolyte Background
A character possessing the acolyte background requesting spellcasting services at a temple of his or her faith may request one spell per day from the Spellcasting Services table for free. The only cost paid for the spell is the base price for the consumed material component, if any.

Those are the rules for the organized play games, make with that what you will.
