Contemporary/Urban fantasy rpg

First Post
I had an idea about doing an RPG Contemporary fantasy setting where magic and creatures did not died off, or have secret society or in hinding. Set in world much like ours but the fact Magic is real and merges with technology and the Elves, Orcs, Trolls and Dragons still exist and out in the open and its every day thing. It similar to Shadowrun but set in our near future. The idea came to after reading Wyrd is Bond rpg where magic exist and used by gang bangers and rappers. And the Creatures will not fade away after they die either, I hate that!

What do think? Which system would work best? I know D&D could be used but looking for something else and different. I will not use GURPS or D6 for personal reasons.

Well... If your fine with making up your own monsters/races. You could take the basic mortal template from NWoD and add the Second Sight magic-templates for magic. Or take things from the nMage for your magic.

True20 would work just fine.

Or any of those mentioned above, for that matter, though HARP I would not be sure - haven't tried it, is all. Plus, it looks like 'traditional' fantasy, at first glance anyhow.

Uh, Shadowrun with the cyberware, bioware, cybermancy, extra-high-tech gadgets, and Matrix material removed? That'd probably do it. A cut-down list of gear to choose from, but nothing more. The timeline scaled back a bit with an assumption that the Awakening occured earlier, well before the advent of the Matrix, cyberware, etc. Or just some assumption that the Awakening was never needed and stuff somehow got to be mostly like the real world despite the never-absent presence of magic and dragons and such?

*shrug*

Yay Shadowrun! :D

I am also thinking of going further in the future but doing Post-apocalyptic fantasy similar to Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. Think question which would be better and more interesting?

If I can find a non d20 core setting/campaign that doe Modern Fantasy well without being to cliche or no hidden fantasy creatures fantasy world, the modern and fantasy world blending or merging seamlessly, that would be good.
