D&D 5E Changeling Stories?

I'm curious what experiences people have had playing a Changeling PC. I imagine the experiences will differ greatly depending upon campaign design, DM style, etc... Can I hear some high points and low points from players that have played a Changeling PC?

I finally have a chance to play one coming up, so I'll be interested to hear what people have to say. Hopefully it more than just alter self at will is kewl. :p

It's a really interesting race to roleplay. My Changeling Wizard was a blast, even though we didn't have a terribly sneaky-intrigue heavy campaign and mostly trudged around the countryside. The race lent itself to inspiring a lot of personality details including:

1) A basic assumption of no social consequences for actions away from home beyond needing to switch to a new persona.
2) Being a habitual liar, because it just seems silly not to be (naturally lots of character growth space here).
3) Identifying her self image more with her one set of clothing than with her face.
4) The vanities that come with spending your entire life looking exactly the way you want to with trivial effort.

Many of the quirks, flaws, etc. in here were only compounded when this person is also given the abilities to prestidigitate, turn invisible, teleport, and abuse the Friends cantrip. Obviously being a member of what is in many places a feared and despised race that can easily hide the secret of their identity as such lends itself to a lot of character traits too, but for this character I was going out of my way to give her a more happy and well-adjusted childhood than the typical PC so I didn't really explore those aspects of being a Changeling.

We took major mechanical advantage of the actual shapeshifting hijinks two, maybe three times out of 20-odd sessions, and in both instances Alter Self would have done the job just as well, but the personality traits from being a character who had spent her life shapeshifting at-will were ominpresent and a lot of fun.
