D&D 5E Centaur/Pegasaur and Mounted Combat.

One of the 3PP I have is the Centaur as a playable race that is large. I was wondering if the Centaur would be treated as mounted for purposes of the mounted combat feat? Technically is is a no but it makes sense for the Centaur to use this feat or have a centaur specific feat that does something similar.

IIRC D&D has had Pegasaurs in it before but can anyone remember them. I used them in the 90's in a videoggame called Shining Force which seemed heavily based on D&D.

I dunno, it's 3rd party. By the RAW it's not even legit.

Personally, I'd say that they do count as "mounted".

Hence wh I am asking here. I dontt think anyone well play a centaur bt I am prinitng out the PDFs and might allow some of the options to be used. It is the Midgard/Southland heroes PDFs from Kobold Press.

. . . It would basically give Advantage to any attack on a Medium or smaller target and Evasion?
That is pretty hefty for a feat.

Do you mean Pegasus/Pegasi?

The mounted combatant feat seems intended for one creature riding on top of another. So being able to redirect attacks or getting evasion wouldn't really make sense to me.

But what exactly are you looking to get out of the feat? Getting advantage on all melee attacks vs Small or Tiny creatures? This could be powerful, as it's always on if you are treated as mounted all the time, but not getting any other benefits and giving up an ASI could be worth it.

I've got the same book (assuming there isn't some product containing a centaur race that I'm not aware of, but that's beside the point), and this is what I do regarding Centaurs and the mounted combat feat:

Absolutely nothing.

If the player doesn't want to take the feat because they don't envision their centaur character riding some even larger mount. Not a problem, not every feat is meant to appeal to every character.
If the player does want to take the feat because they want some bonuses from it, the feat is clear as to when those bonuses apply so they know going into it exactly what they need to do to get said bonuses.

Mostly just wondering if the feat would work.
